Outdoor cable jackets do not make an exposed network plug weatherproof. Use the manufacturer-compatible junction box or a properly rated enclosure.

Build a serviceable connection

  • Create a drip loop where appropriate.
  • Avoid pulling tension on the connector.
  • Seal entries with suitable hardware.
  • Keep enough service loop for future work.

Inspect after severe weather

Water intrusion can appear intermittent before a connection fails. Early inspection prevents corrosion from spreading.
